Primary Objective(s) of Position

The incumbent will interface directly with both the CEO and COO in organisation-wide efforts to enhance and maintain reputation, strengthen brand recall, support business sustainability, identify and build strategic partnerships, and operationalise an organisational strategy, so as to ultimately position AWWA as a progressive and formidable agency within the social service sector and beyond. As the incumbent will straddle the dual portfolios of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement (CSE), they will need to be agile, creative and adept at working with a myriad of internal and external stakeholders. They will be expected to implement AWWA’s strategic vision through their role in development, sustainability, and communications.

Responsibilities

Communications

  • Assets: Guide the Video and Production lead to ensure alignment in objectives for messaging and storylines for in-house videos, clips and production, which support macro organisational goals, and the AWWA persona
  • Branding: Establish, advance, and execute messaging and identity for AWWA, in collaboration with the CEO, COO and Communications lead
  • Content: Work with, and guide the Communications lead to curate a refined creative content strategy for AWWA
  • Media relations: Ensure that identified spokespersons undergo periodic media training sessions
  • Positioning: Guide both the Communications lead and Digital and Creative lead in strengthening AWWA’s competitive positioning and digital presence
  • Reputation: Work alongside other Crisis Directorate members to effectively address crises as they arise, and operationalise a proactive issues management approach

Fundraising and Volunteer Management

  • Donor relations: Guide the Fundraising lead to refresh and craft a donor relations strategy that contains the following action plans:
  • Donor stewardship
  • Donor cultivation
  • Donor retention
  • Identify areas for improvement within existing fundraising streams
  • Volunteer relations: Guide the Volunteer Management lead to refresh and craft a volunteer engagement strategy that contains the following action plans:
  • Volunteer cultivation and retention in alignment to ultimately support AWWA’s fundraising goals
  • Database management
  • Volunteer onboarding, orientation and training
  • Be the bridge to connect all facets of CSE to elevate AWWA’s storytelling and brand-building activities for internal and external stakeholder engagement

The above activities are by no means exhaustive and are subjected to amendment whenever is needed.

Job Requirements
  • Seasoned professional with at least eight years of experience in corporate communications/public relations, or stakeholder engagement. At least five of those years must have been in a supervisory position
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication or Business. A Master’s degree in a related specialisation is a plus.
  • Experience in interacting with staff across different levels and community partners through good stakeholder management.
  • Confidence in handling sensitive information and working directly with C-suite personnel.
  • Fundraising experience is a bonus.
  • Expertise in crisis management is a plus.
  • Project/change management experience is a plus.
  • Good situational judgement and critical thinking skills.
  • Passion for social impacts and outcomes.
  • Excellent command of English and one other vernacular language.
