Job description

As a Principal, you will lead the school community, including students, staff, parents and community partners in establishing a culture of holistic care for the students and providing positive learning experience for the students. You will also lead in fostering a culture of learning and teaching, collaboration and innovation among your staff.

Job Specifications

Curriculum and instructional excellence

Oversee the planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all educational programmes of the school. This includes school-based curriculum, syllabus construction and patterns of assessment, and provision of teaching aids to meet the needs of the different student profile Oversee the implementation of innovative pedagogical and assessment methods to enhance students’ learning Hoslistic Student Care

Establish systems and processes to ensure that the individual needs of the students are carefully evaluated and appropriate programmes are selected for the holistic development of the students Oversee the creation and development of a safe and conducive learning environment Quality Staff

  • Formulate school’s professional training and development priorities and plans in alignment with wider SPED sector vision and AWWA’s overall staff training and development programmes
  • Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of school-wide professional training and development framework
  • Evaluate Key Personnel (including Vice-Principal) development and performance and conduct performance counselling when necessary
  • Provide feedback, mentoring and coaching and direction to the staff to enhance their overall effectiveness
  • Lead in establishing robust performance management structures and processes for the professional development and growth of staff

Partnerships and stakeholder engagement

  • Establish systems and processes to equip and enable parents/caregivers to reinforce teaching and learning at home and in the community
  • Build close working relationship with the parents of students to enhance the overall effectiveness of the educational programmes
  • Organisational Management and Development

Lead in the implementation and management of an effective organization and administrative system for controlling, administering, deploying and monitoring of financial and manpower resources of the school Other areas

  • In-charge of the day-to-day administration of the school
  • Lead in the preparation of budgets for the school
  • Work with AWWA CEO/COO on AWWA strategies
  • Undertake any other duties as directed by the AWWA CEO/COO or SMC
Job Requirements

Minimum Education / Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Master degree in special/education or related discipline
  • At least 10 years of relevant working experience in Education/Special Education, leadership, school management and people management

Knowledge/Skills * Good knowledge of Education policies and developments in the field of Special Education, leadership, school management and people management * Demonstrate strong strategic thinking, analytical and leadership skills
