Job description

Primary Objectives of Position

• Lead and carry out the mission and aspiration of AWWA in empowering the disadvantaged in the community with effective and innovative programmes – through adequate capabilities and funding

• Lead overall operations and management responsibility for AWWA Services, ensuring delivery of holistic care practices to achieve client’s optimal participation

• Instill a culture of continuous learning and drive capability development programmes to grow a skilled, efficient and productive workforce. Build and grow AWWA’s holistic care philosophy and inter-professional practices.

• Promotes AWWA’s cause of empowering and advocating for our clients

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Development

• Lead, develop and implement strategic decisions and plans for AWWA in accordance with the directions agreed with CEO

• Build strategic planning capability and process throughout AWWA’s Services

• Responsible for reviewing and updating the strategic plan, and ensure operations are aligned to prevailing strategic plan

Finance

• Ensure that appropriate and satisfactory internal controls are operating effectively

• Review and present Services annual and mid-year budgets to CEO & Board

Supervision of Services and Operations

• Drive for continual improvement in operations, while complying with all relevant regulatory requirements

• Manage operational risks

• Work with HQ support functions to improve service support and ensure compliance to governance issues and achievement of IPC and Charity Transparency Award Staff Development

• Drive capability development programmes to grow staff competency, efficiency and innovative practices

• Ensure Services optimise staff headcount and efficiencies to carry out all the activities of the programmes

• Ensure Services drive staff engagement to improve retention and engagement

• Ensure Services drive e-Academy development and achievement of total learning plan

• Identify and groom talent for short- and longer-term needs, within a rigorous process and framework for succession planning

Fund-raising and Community Partnership

• Ensure good relationships with key stakeholders (donors, agencies, employees, volunteers, media, public)

• Support fundraising function and drive appropriate improvements

Governance and Board Liaison

• Work effectively with the Board and its sub-committees to advance AWWA’s mission

• Ensure compliance with governance guidelines and regulations, as well as with relevant external requirements

Job Requirements

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience

• At least 15 years of working experience

Knowledge/Skills

• Led multiple business or organizational units

• Managed operating expenses of at least S$25 million annually

• Senior role heading an organization with over 200 people

Attributes (functional or leadership competencies)

• Build organisational capabilities and resilience -- through leadership, proper structure, deployment of talent, empowerment, and proper management processes/dashboards

• Manage significant change and growth – through attention to only the major issues and key metrics, as well as effective delegation

• Nurture a complex network of diverse stakeholders – through agility, adaptability and sound judgment
