Job Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Learning

  • Deliver appropriate lessons with a wide variety of teaching techniques based on the understanding of curriculum philosophy and specific needs of children in the class
  • Guide teachers in developing programme plans
  • Conduct literacy program after carry one-off testing for individual child on language ability
  • Prepare appropriate learning activities, resources and material for all levels of classes
  • Complete lesson plan evaluation form to self-reflect if the lesson conducted has been effective and learning objectives have been met
  • Participate in setting up, up-keeping of learning centres ( eg. Math Science, English , Chinese, Art and Craft )to facilitate children’s learning
  • Source for suitable material for display at learning centres and update it according to focus of teaching content and children’s interest
  • Monitor the development  of the children and update children’s developmental profile
  • Conduct  Parent-Teacher conference

2. Well-being of Children

  • Ensure the well-being and safety of the children in all domains of children’s development
  • Interact with children in an effective and nurturing manner
  • Be responsible and facilitate the conduct of daily care routines for the children which include meal time,  milk feeds, baths, diaper changing, temperature check and administering medicine etc

3. Engaging Parents and Community

  • Lead in effort to involve parents in centre and community activities
  • Lead and guide teachers in updating parents’ notice board
  • Plan and prepare monthly newsletter or update class blog
  • Communicate with parents through communication book and encourage parents’ involvement in centre events

4. Collaborative Early Intervention work

  • Participate in initial assessments and evaluation of children's developmental progress and needs
  • Provide home visits to assigned caseload, to provide developmental stimulation, parent training and support
  • Complete all necessary paperwork, including reports of assessments, progress reports and discharge summaries
  • Collaborate as a transdisciplinary team member for program planning and delivery of services as well as intervention for preschoolers with mild to moderate developmental delays in mainstream preschools
  • Maintain appropriate communication with preschool educators, others allied health professional as well as parents or caregivers in relating to the child’s development progress and needs

Other Responsibilities

 1. Centre Activities and Events

  • Lead in the implementation and evaluation of centre events and activities
  • Guide other teachers in the planning and organizing of centre events
  • Carry out class administration duties as and when necessary

2. Development of Staff

  • Mentor and coach student- teachers/ trainee teachers / new teachers

3. To assist in ad-hoc projects/ committees as and when required by the Principal and Assistant Director

4. To perform any other duties as directed by the Director/ CEO

Minimum Education / Qualifications

  • At least Advanced Diploma in Early Intervention for Special Needs (ADESN) by Ngee Ann Polytechnic with 2-3 years working experience
  • 5 credits in English and Mother Tongue in GCE “O” Levels

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience

Knowledge/Skills

  • Dedicated, patient and understanding to work with children with one or more learning difficulties
  • Adequate knowledge of current early childhood care and education development theories, research and practices
  • Good communication and classroom management skills
  • Good understanding of developmental milestones in all domains and atypical deviation of developmental milestones
  • Have good understanding of positive behavior management approaches and communicate using clear and developmentally appropriate language
  • Design appropriate goals based on child’s needs
  • Communicate well with parents/teachers/children
